Camping on Fort Bliss
Camping is one of the recreational activities available on Fort Bliss. Camping must be coordinated with Fort Bliss Hunt Program Managers/Biologists ahead of time (see below). A Fort Bliss Recreation Access Permit or a Fort Bliss Hunting & Recreation Access Permit is required.

Camping during scheduled big game hunts:
Hunters who have a Unit 28 McGregor Range big game tag will receive a map of the hunt area that includes areas for camping, along with further information about their hunt. On the day before the hunt begins, hunters will be able to check into their hunt to set up camp. Hunters do not need to check into the "Camping" activity during a scheduled big game hunt.
How to Camp at other times:
Camping outside of a scheduled big game hunt needs to be arranged ahead of time. Contact one of the biologists listed on our Contact Us page or call the Fort Bliss Hunt Program phone at (915) 996-0776 at least 1-2 weeks prior to your desired camping dates. We will check the military training schedule to see which (if any) training areas will be open for camping and approve or deny your request. Before entering the range to camp, a hunt program admin must manually check campers into the "Camping" activity in iSportsman on the day.
